Drowning |
| |
Young turtles are at the greatest
risk of drowning partially because they are not
as strong as older turtles but also because they
can more easily become trapped.
Proper design of your turtles habitat can eliminate
almost all cases of drowning. Be sure that there
are no loose object in the water that the turtle
can become trapped under. Also, aquatic turtles
still need a dry spot where they can get out of
the water. If they do not have a place to rest
they may become tired and be unable to swim. Lastly,
ensure the water is not too deep, especially for
juvenile turtles.
